This Privacy Policy explains how HGV Driver Jobs ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores and shares personal data when you use our website, job alerts, employer dashboard, contact form and paid subscription services. We are the data controller for personal data processed through this site and comply with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Information we collect

Driver accounts & alerts: email address, password, job preferences (licence categories, region, role type) and unsubscribe status.
Employer accounts: name, work email, company name, phone, billing details and job postings.
Contact form submissions: name, email, phone (optional), company (optional), topic and message.
Subscription & payment data: plan, subscription status, billing period and Stripe customer ID. Card details are handled directly by Stripe — we never see or store full card numbers.
Usage data: pages viewed, jobs clicked, device/browser info and IP address, used for analytics and fraud prevention.
Cookies: strictly necessary cookies for login/session, plus optional analytics cookies.

2. How we use your data

Operate driver accounts and send job alerts you have opted into.
Let employers post jobs, manage listings and respond to applications.
Process subscription payments, renewals, refunds and invoices via Stripe.
Respond to questions submitted via the contact form.
Send service emails (account confirmations, password resets, billing receipts, plan changes).
Detect abuse, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations.
Improve the site through aggregated analytics.

3. Legal bases

We rely on: contract (to deliver accounts, job posting and paid subscriptions), consent (marketing emails and optional analytics cookies), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement) and legal obligation (tax, accounting, responding to lawful requests).

4. Payments and subscriptions

Paid plans (e.g. employer job-posting subscriptions) are processed by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. Stripe acts as an independent controller of the payment card data you provide to it. We receive limited billing metadata (customer ID, plan, status, period dates, last 4 digits of the card). For Stripe's own privacy practices see stripe.com/privacy.

5. Sharing your data

Employers: when you click "Apply" on a job you are taken to the employer's site or email; we don't forward your CV unless you submit it there.
Sub-processors: Supabase (database & auth hosting), Stripe (payments), Resend / our email provider (transactional & alert emails), Cloudflare (hosting & CDN), and analytics providers.
Authorities: where required by law, court order, or to protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal data.

6. International transfers

Some sub-processors are based outside the UK/EEA. Where this happens we rely on UK adequacy decisions or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Data retention

Driver accounts & alert preferences: until you delete your account or unsubscribe.
Employer accounts & job postings: for the life of the account plus 12 months.
Contact form submissions: up to 24 months from receipt.
Billing records: 7 years (UK tax/accounting requirements).

8. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email privacy@hgvjobalerts.com to exercise these rights. You can complain to the UK ICO at ico.org.uk.

9. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication and security. Optional analytics cookies are only set with your consent. You can clear cookies in your browser at any time.

10. Children

The service is not directed at anyone under 18.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified by email or via a notice on the site.
